3 Tips to Repurpose Content and Make it More Effective

Creating new content isn’t always easy, nor is it always necessary. Think about it, we’ve all seen books made into movies. Repurposing content changes the format and reshapes messages, enabling you to reach a larger and more targeted audience. Here are 3 tips for re-purposing your existing content:

1. From Blog to Books And Back Again

Chances are, you have a lot of blog content. Combine your related blog posts into a book (If you want a very simple solution, you can use something like CreateSpace to help). Just add an introduction, transitions, and a conclusion. Now you have an ebook. Here are some ideas on what to do with it:

  • Offer it as a valuable freebie in exchange for an email address on your website
  • Post an excerpt in social media and lead them to a landing page where they can sign up to get the download

2. Revamp Customer Testimonials

Plain text is boring. Combine text with images turning testimonials into infographics or even videos to post on social media. Use testimonials to develop case studies to share with clients. Lastly, include a testimonial section in your email marketing campaigns. That way, you have testimonials in a variety of forms to keep things fresh and appealing to the people who are consuming your content.

3. “Create less, promote more" - Salma Jafri

Repurpose and have more time to promote. Ultimately, you’ll want to find several methods on social media to spread your message effectively. You should run tests to see what promotion methods work best in regards to driving traffic to your site to get conversions. Remember, never just send people to the home page of your website. Here are a few ideas:

  • Your latest blog post
  • A case study
  • A landing page
  • Your contact page
  • A service page

Whether you’re promoting your own content or other content, which you should, make sure to post it more than once! Not every one of your followers on social media is online at the same time, so it’s impossible for everyone to see every post. However, don’t over post—that runs a high risk of you getting unfollowed and unliked. There’s a happy medium, you just need to find it.

Follow these 3 tips and start getting the most out of your existing content, and your time. Once you begin to repackage your information into a valuable format, you can give it away in exchange for prospect’s email addresses, making it a win-win!
